Good Saturday morning, Everyone! I thought it might be important to discuss how and why I found myself using the Tailwind. On January 7, 2007, I had a massive bleeding stroke in the right frontal lobe of my brain. I had major brain surgery to eliminate the blood from my brain. The blood is toxic to the brain, so much damage occured. The entire left side of my body was negatively effected, and it has been quite a difficult task to battle back from this brain injury. After these many months I conquered learning how to walk, think, and live independently again. I cannot use my left arm YET ( and this is NO option for me!), so I am constantly looking for new opportunities of treatment, since the standards did not help much. My friend, Mark McEwen, set me up with Kris Appel and the Tailwind group, and I have recently begun using this new device, with great hope and expectation. I have been through much, but I am blessed that my friends, family and various wonderful people who have come to my assistance! As time goes by, I will incorporate further details of my slow and future FULL recovery. Sincerely, Shary

a little history of my struggle
Monday, September 21st, 2009Tailwind, you wonderful device!
Thursday, September 10th, 2009Good Friday morning, Everyone! Last night, while laying down in bed, I suddenly lifted my left arm (effected one) OVER MY HEAD! This move was purposeful and able to be achieved a couple more times before going to sleep. So that means, I can now give decent two arm hugs AND lift my arm up over my head, since using the wonderful Tailwind! Sincerely, Shary PS THANK YOU, Kris Appel and Mark McEwen!
…about my recovery so far……..
Friday, August 14th, 2009Good Friday morning, Everyone! I truly hope y’all have a wonderful weekend! I know I will because I will be spending time with my much loved family this weekend! It is because of my friends and family that I am doing so very well during my recovery from this massive bleeding stroke. During my hospital stay, I was surrounded by these “angels on earth”. It is because of their love and great care for me that I am able to lead such a full and rich life right now. (more…)
Tailwind arrived!
Monday, August 3rd, 2009Good Sunday morning, Everyone! Thanks to Kris Appel, I have received my long awaited Tailwind device on Friday. It was easy enough to set up for use, and I am now in the process of fine tuning the art of how to use it. I have already added a temporary foam pad on the handle that I will use on my effected hand (left one), and I am “tweaking” the settings and height of my chair. I already can tell how the tailwind creates new brain pathways and how it will become a valuable tool for stroke patients who want a lost limb recovery treatment. I will continue to post my own recovery efforts and progress. Sincerely, Shary
